Ages 11 and up.
Traditional drawing is emphasized as a basis for all work, even comic book, fantasy or anime. It requires a lot of rendering from direct observation; a more difficult task and therefore a big requirement of most high school and college level portfolios. Self-portraits, figure drawings, object studies and still life drawings are
commonly requested. Projects covered will include CCPS high school portfolio requirements for those on the
ARTS track upon entering High School. This class is open to students of all levels; portfolio planning is optional.
Instructor: John Kachik, Mondays 5 – 6:30pm @ Century High School. $125 for 8 classes
For ages 7 – 10
Spring into Art is a mixed media class designed to inspire the young child’s artistic talents. The students will develop their art skills with a variety of mediums. We will create a new project every week that can be proudly displayed. This session, the class will make a rainbow clay pot, draw bunnies in a garden using charcoal and paint a dragonfly with watercolors. The children will continue celebrating Spring creating projects with printmaking materials, oil pastels and markers.
Instructor: Kim Fondiller, Tuesdays 5:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. @ Century High School. $125 for 8 classes

Freedom Area Arts
Starting in Fall 2019, Christy and I will be taking over as administrators for the Freedom Arts Programs (an affiliate of the Freedom Area Rec Council). We have been actively involved in Winfield Rec and Freedom Rec clubs with our children. Our children have participated in art programs run by FARC. Our daughter is an extremely talented young artist and inspired us to step up and administer these programs when Vivian Davis announced that she was relocating. We are very excited to help continue the programs that Vivian has been running since 2008. We plan on keeping programs similar to past offerings. With the help of the talented Artist/Instructors involved in Freedom Arts, we hope to make a few changes to challenge, excite, and educate artists in the area. We also hope to provide opportunities for area artists to participate, educate, and elevate the art programs in our community. Please look for future communications from Christy or me and help us continue to advance the Arts in Carroll County.
